As the warmer spring weather inches closer and closer, Moorestown remains busy planning its numerous seasonal events. This spring, residents will be given many reasons to get out and explore.
Live Civilly’s 4th Annual Community-Supported Garden Program
Just in time for Earth Day, Live Civilly announced the fourth year of its community-supported garden program that brings fresh produce to Moorestown’s local food pantries and operates from May through September. Beginning in late-March/early-April residents will be given the opportunity to take part in the community seed-starting program. Overseen by Live Civilly mentors and managed, maintained and cared for by youth and family volunteers on a rotating schedule, this program is another example of “people helping people.”
“The gardens are strategically located in public areas on school grounds, and we have two plots in the Camden Avenue beds on land that is managed by Moorestown Garden Club,” Live Civilly President Kahra Buss, said. “The gardens produce vegetables all summer long, and the vegetables are taken to the local food pantries.”

Spring events at the Moorestown Library
The Moorestown Library will be celebrating spring with a recess craft bonanza for children of all ages. From Monday, April 17 through Friday, April 21, children and their families will be invited to join the library to create a craft inspired by the colorful art and stories of Eric Carle.
Beginning the week of activities, children will be asked to color a “Very Hungry Caterpillar” crown on Monday, replicate Carle’s colorful collage technique to make a beautiful “Mr. Seahorse” poster on Tuesday, and string green macaroni and colorful cut-outs together to make a necklace inspired by “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” on Wednesday. Ending the week, they will use a tissue paper collage to create a “Very Quiet Cricket” stick puppet on Thursday, and use paint and paper shapes to assemble stars like in “Draw Me a Star and Papa, Please get the Moon for Me” on Friday.
“Spring break crafts have been a favorite library tradition for several years. They draw families into the library who may have trouble finding the time to visit while school is in session,” said Jennifer Dunne, principal librarian for Children’s Services at the Moorestown Library. “This year’s theme, Eric Carle-inspired crafts, connects spring themes of nature and vibrant colors with beloved storybooks children can find at the library.”
2nd Annual Daffodil Day
After the week-long library event concludes, the next day the Moorestown Business Association will host its second annual Daffodil Day on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Main Street will be fully decorated for spring. Residents are encouraged to wear yellow to the event, and it will feature shopping, dining, entertainment, carriage rides and other activities for kids.
“The MBA is building on the very successful launch of this event last year, and adding more art and music, a pet parade and more seasonal décor,” MBA board member Candace Coleman said. “As with last year, we will have horse and surrey rides, a bike decorating contest, live music and art demonstrations, demos by the garden club and more.”

12th Annual Wine Tasting
Do you enjoy sampling wine, beer and champagne? If so, the Moorestown Community House is hosting the perfect event for you on Saturday, April, 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The 12th Annual Wine Tasting will provide community members with the opportunity to try drinks from the Bubbly Bar, sponsored by Apple Kitchens, Inc.
“The Wine Tasting is our biggest fundraiser of the year. For the last few years, the event has sold out with more than 600 people in attendance,” Caryn Lynch, executive director of the Moorestown Community House, said. “The money raised goes toward subsidizing more than 100 local non-profit tenants and users, preserving the integrity of this unique structure, and bringing community-based programs and events to Moorestown.”
A VIP opportunity will allow community members the chance to enjoy an intimate setting with a wine expert who can share high-end wines accompanied by increased wine education. VIP tickets are an additional $25, and space is limited.
Even for those not wishing to drink, there will be a Sober Bar sponsored by Tabula Rosa Healthcare. Additionally, a Stogie Shack, sponsored by Esposito Family Dental, will offer treats for cigar lovers.

Moorestown Day
Right before spring turns to summer, the annual Moorestown Day celebration will once again take place on Saturday, June 3 on Main Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This “long-standing Moorestown tradition” will celebrate local businesses, residents and the community while featuring local merchants, sidewalks sales and more than 100 vendors.
The event will also offer food, entertainment and local theater company performances.
“Moorestown Day serves two main purposes: a showcase for business and a street fair. It allows members of the MBA to showcase their business to the community, and the community can see in one place the breadth of goods and services and excellent food that can be found here in Moorestown,” Andrew Mackerer, chair of the event, said. “It also serves as a street fair for the community with a petting zoo, camel rides, entertainers and giant inflatables.”
